Broadcasters gear up for cell-phone TV

On January 6, 2008, the Associated Press reported that broadcasters are gearing up to begin transmitting television programming for portable electronic devices such as cellphones in 2009.

The initiative is driven by broadcasters' need to challenge mobile carriers, who are creating their own content for their devices.

Applie's iPhone

Here is a link to a New York Times article on Apple's newest product, the iPhone. As one would expect from Steve Jobs, it has an entirely different interface than other contemporary phones and related hybrids. Apple has already run into copyright issues on their name, and there has also been some flack around Apple restricting its users to their proprietary files, but it's the interface here that is most interesting, given the scramble that technology companies are going through to find the all-purpose personal data device.

It appears from their web site that they are combining numerous elements of training including knowledge management, online communities, collaboration, conferencing, learning management and performance support and enabling easy distribution via multiple technologies.
